November 2024 Athlete Of The Month

Time to highlight one of our spectacular athletes! What makes up an Athlete of the Month? Not crushing the hardest every workout or lifting the most weight. This athlete exhibits consistency and a hard work mentality. Every time they come to the gym they have a good attitude and give their all. This person is also welcoming of others, helping make H Dub the best community there is. Each month we choose a different athlete and post some fun facts about them to help y’all get to know them better.

Congrats to Spencer Howard! Spencer is the definition of enthusiastic. He loves to be challenged and try new things especially when it comes to gymnastics or weightlifting. Though he may look like he is not enjoying the workout in the process, upon completion he always lets the coach know how great of a workout it was. Check out his questionnaire below  :

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

What were your goals when you started training? 

  • My goals were to have a more balanced workout, but also to learn how to warm up and stretch properly. 

How long have you been at H Dub and how did you get into it?

  • I started last Fall. So a little over a year!

What is your favorite/least favorite thing we do in training? 

  • A little bit of a hot take, but my favorite training is rope climbs. It’s humbling and a good workout at the same time. Least favorite is burpees.

How has H Dub positively affected you?

  • H Dub has been really positive in so many ways for me. The community pushes me to be better every day. So many times I look at the workout and think “I can’t do that,” but I get into the gym and grind through it. I normally hit the 6:30am class and there is no better way to start the day. After a good workout in the morning it sets the tone for the rest of the day!

What advice do you have for newcomers?

  • The workouts are challenging, but stay with it and keep pushing. Every workout can be modified so you can feel comfortable with the movement and the weight!

What is something no one at the gym knows about you?

  • I volunteer at Metro Animal Control in Nashville. It’s an easy way to give back and it’s always fun to hang with some furry friends.

Who are 3 people you would have a meal or drink with dead or alive?

  • Larry Bird (One of the best shooters & Trash talkers of all time).
  • Henry Ford
  • My mom

If you had an intro song when you walk into the gym what would it be 

  • Famous – Kanye West (Kanye’s a weirdo, but this one is a BANGER!!)

Favorite Sport?

  • To play – it would have to be basketball or soccer. Only being 5’9″ definitely shortened my basketball career though! lol

If you could have one super power what would it be? 

  • Oh it would have to be teleportation. Nightcrawler was always one of my favorite heroes. Plus, with Nashville traffic, it would make getting around a lot easier!

What is your favorite thing to eat?

  • 1000% Hibachi lol. You always feel too full after, but there is something about the yum yum sauce with the rice, steak and the veggies – soooo good. #IYKYK
