June 2024 Athlete Of The Month

IMG 1248

Time to highlight one of our spectacular athletes! What makes up an Athlete of the Month? Not crushing the hardest every workout or lifting the most weight. This athlete exhibits consistency and a hard work mentality. Every time they come to the gym they have a good attitude and give their all. This person is also welcoming of others, helping make H Dub the best community there is. Each month we choose a different athlete and post some fun facts about them to help y’all get to know them better.

Congrats goes to Joe Sheridan! Joe has not been at the gym long but has become a staple in the Noon Squad. Joe brings an eagerness to improve that a coach loves to see. Learn more about Joe in his questionnaire below:

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

Born and raised in the Philadelphia suburbs and love following all Philly sports teams. Went to college at Penn State and then lived in Washington, D.C. for seven years before moving to Nashville in 2017 for grad school at Vanderbilt. My wife and I now call Nashville home with our dog Izzy.

What were your goals when you started training?

Get stronger, get healthier, and have fun doing it.

How long have you been at H Dub and how did you get into it?

I joined in January 2024 after my wife, Lauren Egge, joined a few weeks prior and loved it. I’m new to this style of training but I’m hooked.

What is your favorite/least favorite thing we do in training?

All the barbell and gymnastics work is pretty new for me so it’s fun to keep showing up and make small improvements each time. Double-unders are frustrating but that just gives me motivation to keep practicing.

How has H Dub positively affected you?

The culture of positivity and encouragement is infectious. The noon class has been a great way to break-up my workday.

What advice do you have for newcomers?

Embrace not knowing what you’re doing. Everyone is eager to help so the more you lean into your inexperience the more you’ll get in return.

What is something no one at the gym knows about you?

My job in high school and college was twisting philly soft pretzels. Pro tip – it’s all in the wrist.

Who are 3 people you would have a meal or drink with dead or alive?

Tiger Woods, Anthony Bourdain, and George Carlin

If you had an intro song when you walk into the gym what would it be.

Born to Run, Bruce Springsteen

Favorite Sport?

Love to watch and play golf.

If you could have one super power what would it be?

See the future. Would turnaround my sports betting record.

What is your favorite thing to eat?

I’d eat pizza every meal if I could.
