What is The H Dub Open?
The H Dub Open is an intragym competition but truly is more of a celebration of fitness. We do it because we can! How it works is the gym is divided into 3 teams (names drawn from a bowl) and each week we will all get together to perform a workout. The workout will be announced Thursday and the workout will take place on Friday at 5pm a.k.a. “Friday Night Lights”. This you don’t want to miss. The energy in the building is electric. If you can’t make it to FNL no biggie. The workout of the day on Friday’s will be the same workout so you can get it in for your team then. See the workout and think “No way I can do that?” No worries there are plenty of modified versions of the workout available making it accessible to anyone.
Scoring is not solely based on the workout. There are also points given out for FNL participation, most spirited, social media and a new way to snag points which is “out of my comfort zone”. You can snag points for your team by stepping out of your comfort zone and going to a class that you don’t normally attend. For example, If you normally come to the 4:30pm class but you are on the team led by the Morning Captain (Randy), you can bank some points by coming to the 5:30am or 6:30am class.
Lastly we turn this into a charity event each year to support Harvest Hands. We charge everyone who participates $30 and will donate the money to Harvest Hands to help keep supporting the youth in our community of Chestnut Hill/Wedgewood Houston.
If this is your first time doing this you will find yourself slightly confused. Our best advice is just show up and it will all make sense.
See you all under the lights!
