September’s Athlete Of The Month

Time to highlight one of our spectacular athletes! What makes up an Athlete of the Month? Not RX’ing every workout or lifting the most weight. This athlete exhibits consistency and a hard work mentality. Every time they come to the gym they have a good attitude and give their all. This person is also welcoming of others, helping make H Dub the best community there is. Each month we choose a different athlete and post some fun facts about them to help y’all get to know them better!

Big Congrats goes to Jason Springer! This dude is has as big of a smile as he does a back squat, which is over 400lbs. Jason loves to push himself to find his limits but does it in a healthy way. Recently he and his wife Gabby had their first child, baby boy Jack. It has been awesome to see him continue to make fitness a priority even with the new responsibility of becoming a parent. Learn more about Jason in his questionnaire below:

What were your goals when you started training?
I was big into sports both in high school and college, so my goal initially when I first started training was to find an outlet to channel some of that competitiveness and athletic drive. That quickly morphed into trying to become the best version of myself and to lead/promote a healthy lifestyle for my son. Not only that, but I truly believe health and wellness is the best cure for almost anything!

How long have you been at H Dub and how did you get into it?
I have been at the Dub for almost 3 years now and was introduced through the diversifit team. Fell in love with the community and haven’t looked back since.

What is your favorite/least favorite thing we do in training?
Everyone knows I’m a sucker for a good lifting session, especially any kind of cleans. Though, I do love a long grind as well when you have those conversations with yourself, that’s where grit and determination is built. Not the biggest fan of burpees, but unfortunately I don’t think I’ll ever get away from those! Also, I’d be totally fine if I never did another wall walk in my lifetime…

How has H Dub positively affected you?
H Dub is the only gym I’ve ever been to where I legitimately feel like I’m part of a family. I’ve met some of my best friends here! HDub is a fantastic gym, but it’s truly the people who make it special and impactful. Home of good vibes and hard work couldn’t be a truer statement.

What advice do you have for newcomers?
I would say my only advice is to be yourself and to be patient. I know going to a new gym can be scary and overwhelming at first, but I promise you it won’t be like that for very long. Odds are you’ll probably have multiple people introduce themselves on your first day!

What is something no one at the gym knows about you?
I’m not a super interesting person in all honesty, but I’d venture to say that most people don’t know that I married my high school sweetheart. To make it even more cliche, we were both football and cheer captains our senior year…

Who are 3 people you would have a meal or drink with dead or alive?
Obviously there are a lot, but here are 3 off the top of my head:
Tiger Woods
Chris Farley
Dave Matthews

If you had an intro song when you walk into the gym what would it be.
Sleep now in the fire – Rage Against the Machine

Favorite Sport?

Football, also a pretty big fan of soccer.

If you could have one super power what would it be?
For sure teleportation!

What is your favorite thing to eat?Oooo that’s a tough decision between Italian food and a big BBQ platter.
